I am a proud Canadian, but I am also proud to share a border with the United States of America. The American people are so lovely and welcoming. They have endured great hardships over the years, especially on September 11th, 2001. The world was shocked, confused and angry. How could something like this happen?
I found out about the attacks during a school mass. The priest spoke about what had happened south of the border. A once vibrant city, now covered in dust and sadness. We bowed our heads and we prayed. A moment, forever vivid in my memory.
Sixteen years later, the burn still hurts. Healing, an endless process. My wish for our American friends, is that they continue to heal, and never forget the beautiful souls who were lost that day.
So, where were you on September 11th, 2001?
